Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

We finally got our first good snowstorm yesterday. And just in time too! We just may have a White Christmas this year.

Before I headed off to work this morning I went out and made a snow man in the front yard.

Well, its more of a Snow Minister. xD

I hope my snowman is still there when I get home. ;D

Mystery Sloved!

Remember the previous post with a pile of paper sacks in my living room?
http://blueguynow.blogspot.com/2009/12/mystery.html

Well now we find out what that was all about!

All those sacks are were filled with a little bit of sand and had a candle placed in it. These sand and candle filled sacks are known as "Farolitos." They are bascially simple yet elegant christmas lights/decorations that pop up all over the southwestern U.S. around Christmas time. They have other names like "Luminaries" or as we like to call them, "Bagolitos" (bag-o-litos! xD)

The reason why there was so many on my floor was my dad and his friends were making some to decorate a part of town. (see my other post for more info: http://blueguynow.blogspot.com/2009/11/other-projects.html)

Here are ome of the bags. We had about 900 of them.

On some of the bags we let people right names to honor family and friends.

Some of the bags all lit up.

These pictures don't do them justice. xD

Its my little brother helping out. ;D

Some shots of BGN helping out too!

What an ugly beast. xD
So now you know! ;D
If you are looking for something nice and easy(and something different) to try out this Christmas why not try making a few Farolitos?

Mystery!

Something has invaded BGN's home!

A moutain of paper sacks has formed on my living room floor.

Just what are all these sacks for? And why are they all folded at the top like that?

Even my cat Liya is confused...

Well, its no mystery for me. I happen to know what they are for. Do you? If not you'll find out this Saturday. ;D

Other Projects

BGN doesn't draw naked dragons and demons all the time. He actually works on other things. xD

For Example,

My dad is currently working on getting an old bar here in town up and running again as a performing arts space for the local artists and musicians called The Ol' Mel Patch Art Space. In its heyday this building was a pretty lively place but today its just been sitting vacant. Its also one of the few historic buildings that hasn't been torn down. Occasionally he'll ask me to make a flyer or poster or something for him that involves the Mel Patch.

Below are some recent works:

This is for our monthly "Cruise Night." On Cruise Night we invite everyone who has a cool-old/classy car, Hot Rod, or Lowrider to come and hang out with their cars and with each other. For December we are going to have a toy donation drive along with the Cruise Night, and some other planned goodies too.

This is for a fairly new project my dad is doing, The "Y" District. (The "Y" being three roads that all meet at one intersection in town near the Mel Patch Art Space)
.
.
Below are some pics of the building itself:

I'm sure this isn't new to some but I just came across it yesterday.

That has to be the only version of that song that I actually like. xD

Its Mail Time Again!

Time to play "What Did BGN Get In The Mail Today?"

I got another interesting package..
Something I've been waiting for (and probably been wanting more than my Kimahri figure too xD)

Its Cities XL from Monte Cristo Games. Its a city simulation game where you build, run, manage, etc., a city from the ground up. It will hopefully fill in the gap that SimCity Societies made (come back Will Wright! xD). I can't wait to get home to try it out.

Hard Hat Required

Hmmm.... I haven't been really keeping up with posting my disturbing art now have I? xD

Well here's something to make up for it xD

While wasting away at work today I did some drawings of a "dragon construction worker." I don't know which one I like more. Which do you like?

A Puzzle!

Here's a little puzzle for you...

Can you guess what it means? ;D

Answer:

RPAC

or

REALTOR'S Political Action Committee

This was made for the local Realtor's RPAC board. This was a game to get our members excited and interested in doing something for a fundraiser we well be having tomorrow. ;D

RPAC is responsible for watching bills, laws, ordinances, etc., that might be bad or good for the real estate business.

A Winnar I Am Not

So me and my family went to the New Mexico State Fair yesterday. We did the normal stuff like take our family portrait at a photo booth, ate some fair food, saw the animals, etc. But the main reason we went down to the fair was to see if my "Red's" won any prizes. (see my previous post http://blueguynow.blogspot.com/2009/08/its-fair-time-almost.html )

Well, it didn't win anything. xD

It just hung there making the space look pretty.
My dad said I should try entering it again next year but I need to put it in the "Hispanic Arts section," rather than the "Non-professional arts" section. I think I will try it out but maybe with a different piece. We'll see.

At least it wasn't like the time I entered something back in 2008. I didn't win anything that time but the piece that won First Place was right next to mine. :V

Here are some other pics from the trip to the fair!

a view of Main Street featuring my little brother! (the little freak xD)

Some sheep getting judged.

Some mini horses! (I don't know what they're called xD)

Some normal sized horses. xD

Some members from Pojoque Pueblo doing the "Rain Dance."

And here's a shot of the Sandia Mountains near the end of the day.

Also, the mountains around my town got snow! D8

Its too early for snow! xDD

Its Fair Time! (Almost)

Today I went down to Albuquerque to enter a piece into the New Mexico State Fair.

The State Fair comes around once a year (around Sept.) and people from all over the state come and display their prize pigs, horses, cows, cakes, corn, guns, pottery, and art. Its a good place to show off your stuff.

I'm entering my Red's pic this year. It got quite a bit of response at a little local arts shindig we had here in town this month so I decided to put it in the State Fair.

The fair starts in Sept on the 11th so I'll have to wait till then to see if I won anything. xD

Also, since I was in ALBQ, I went up to the Petroglyphs National Monument to take some pics of myself (of me and my face, my face full of FASHION! ) xD

MAN, what a ugly freak I am xD

Back Home!

Well I made it back home yesterday (about 11:56pm actually xD)
Its nice to be home but I am already missing California. Comic Con was fun this year. I didn't get to do or see all the things I wanted too but I still had fun nonetheless.

Now back to the real world : P blargh.

Devious Blog Entry

This is where I chilled out for a while on Saturday while at the convention center. Nice little corner on the stairs in the shade. Good place to sit and relax---before going to stand in line for almost two hours for the Mythbusters panel, which we couldn't get into because the room filled up while we were still in line. >:V
