A trip into the unknown (and back)

Guess its a good time to update this little ol' blog, dontcha know? ;D

So here we are, in June, almost halfway through the year already! Where did it all go? D: Seems like it was only yesterday that I was complaining about the cold, and now I'm complaining about the hot, warm weather.

But I'll take the warm weather. Especially after having to deal with the cold again...in MAY...while I was on a little trip across the Midwest US. :B

 Last month, me and my dad went on a little road trip up to Minnesota. We went to pick up a 1954 Flxble Bus that was for sale. The bus was pretty good condition for being up in the woods for the past few years. And it still was driveable! So we figured it would be a fairly easy trip bringing it back down to N.M.

Ha ha haaaa. Wrong.

We didn't even make it out of Minnesota on the first day back. xD We broke down outside of Minneapolis/St.Paul. The bracket holding the air compressor would keep coming loose, eventually breaking and having to be welded back together. So we would get it fixed/tightened. Drive 50 miles or so and have to stop and fix it again. xD We did this over the course of 6-7 days, having to stop and fix something every few miles (fan belt, overheating, oil). We slowly made our way across Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, a snippet of Oklahoma, and Finally...back into New Mexico.

Once we got past Kansas City, the bus did fairly good. We were making good time until we got into Dodge City. The bus wasn't used to the warm weather so we had to let it cool down every few miles.

But we finally made it home. Mostly in one piece too. xD

Even though the trip back was tough, it was still worth it in the end. This is a unique bus, mostly because other models from the same year of it are different. This bus was custom made to have a higher roof. Other buses will have a lower roof and a "sunken" walkway down the middle. And it's in much better shape than other ones my dad has looked at.

Also, it's quite the attention-getter. Wherever we went, people would come and look at it, take pictures, look around in side. It was really strange. xD I know its a cool, retro looking bus, but holy cow. You think people never saw one before. Even now,  here at home, we get at least one person a day coming by to look at it. xD

So that was the magical mystery tour. The first one anyways. xD I'll probably be doing it again come July, as I plan to go to AnthroCon in Pittsburgh. :D

So, along side collecting buses, I've still been doodling here and there. Right before the trip I started working on a new character (because I just had to have another one for my collection xD). This here is Puye, a Native American horse guy. (Figured I'd make someone to annoy Aether and Sidern with :D)

 I also started working on a new little project...I now have a tumblr account! :D 

J's 505 Blog is my tumblr page, or in this case, Jamie's tumblr page. This will be a blog of my guys (mostly Jamie) taking pics of themselves in bathrooms or anywhere else they happen to find a mirror. xD  But, I plan to or want to make this a interactive experience. Sort of like those "Ask me" pages you see with characters. I also will be doing prize sketches of people's characters to post on the blog too. I'll be making another, formal announcement on FA soon, letting everything else know about it.

From 2006 to 2013

So, waaaaaaaaay back in 2006, I decided I really liked Growlmon from Digimon. So I drew this picture of him...and it was like the best drawing EVER. :D

Now, in 2013, I looked at it again and thought "What the Buck was I thinking?" D:

So I redrew it. And now it looks a little better. : )

Spring Posting

Sorry BGN hasn't been updating his blog lately. He's been busy fighting runaway urban growth these past few weeks. (Even though SimCity is full of glitches, it is kinda fun :D)

Anyways. hello loyal blog followers! xD

Once again it's time for another post detailing the strange things that go on in BGN's life. :D

To start off we have some sketches of BGN's characters...as humans?

Just today I got this great idea to do human versions for a few of my characters (Well, it seemed great to me anyways xD). This came from me trying to figure out what would be a good April 1st pic. Rather than just picking on Todex I decided to pick on everyone this year. 

If you don't know who the two are down in the bottom right corner then you need to watch more BGN xD

It was kinda tricky doing a few of them. A few of them are based on real people and it was hard trying to draw them, or get them to look like the persons they're based on (Mainly Jaq and Stanley). Hopefully they'll come out a little better when I do the full piece. 

Moving on we have some interesting gifts I've received these past few days. I've gotten everything from video games to suggestive postcards from France, to a weeks worth of free lunch coupons. xD 

Not only have I gotten gifts in the mail, I've gotten some great art gifts from folks online too!  

My birthday isn't till the end of next month but jeez. Maybe I should bake a cake and celebrate early. xD

New Post (and New PC)

It's been a whole month since the last post, so I guess I should update :B

And what better way to update my blog with a post about me getting a new computer! :D

Yes sir, I bought me a new computer two weeks ago, and it got here on Saturday!---Except FedEx couldn't find my house so I had to wait till Monday, which I had to go down to the distribution center in Santa Fe to pick it up MYSELF. >:L Oh well. I got anyways. And I'm happy cuz I now have a PC that should be able to let me play SimCity when it comes out next month (I hope xD).

Now to start all over saving up money for SimCity---and AnthroCon---And ComicCon. Oh gosh. D:

2O13 Is Here...

And I'm barely getting around to updating this blog xD....

Anyways, 2O12 is over! Finally. D: Last year was one of the worst years of my life, and not just for me but for my whole family. Right up to the end, unfortunate things kept coming our way.

 Luckily, Christmas came, and it sort of helped "lighten" our spirits. Har de har har. :B

Most of the time, Xmas is stressful (running around buying gifts for everyone) and it was this year too but once it came and gone, everyone just felt a little relieved. So the year ended on a good note for us. : )

And I got some interesting gifts too. :D

*that EraseAll thing? I don't even know...

We tried quite a few different things this past year---Well. the only real different thing is BOOBIES xD BUT STILL...I think 2O12 was a very productive year. 

And we're already off to a good start for this year! This first week of January has been a busy one. So hopefully this a good sign of things to come. :)

Mr. Vonce is sick again. He's got a totally not cool cold bro.

So he's been stuck in bed for the past few day. While in bed he did the only thing he could do...draw pron! xD

So here we have some sketches of Vonce in two different forms. One in his current-familiar form and the other his future, older form. Originally Vonce was supposed to be some sort of celestial/god-like dragon (cuz that was SO AWESOME and UNHEARD OF when I made him in high school xD). And he still is for the most part. I've been trying to come up with a background story for him, who he is, where did he come from, etc.. 

I also been trying to come up with some of his relatives :D

Here we have some rough sketches of Vonce's daddy. He looks a little too much like Vonce but hey, there should be some resemblance right? xD V's dad isn't really a new character. He's been around in my mind for a while, I just couldn't decide on what he should look like. 

So we know Vonce is a god-like dragon, so that means his dad is one too! :D His dad is the supreme god on his dragon home world. Dad kicked out Vonce---err, sent him on his own DESTINY FINDING JOURNEY ADVENTURE so he could develop his godly powers---and that's how he ended up on Earth or something. :D

Of churches, apples, and horses

So BGN was out and about this morning...

I went up to Chimayo (just east of Espanola) to take some pictures of the church up there, the Santuraio de Chimayo.

I needed some new reference pics of the church and this morning was perfect for taking pictures. The lighting and colors just look so nice in the morning light. I needed some new pics because I am going to update a older drawing I made featuring the church, Moonlight Song. So I got me some good shots of the church AND of something else too...

Right below the church is small field were a horse lives. This horse as been in this field for a few years. He's very social, always sticking his head over the fence interacting with visitors who walk from the parking lot by the field up to the church.

On my way back to the car I stopped and took some pics, and he came over and said hi to me. :D

He poked his head over and I got to pet him. He even started licking my hand. xD

While I was there, his owner came by and gave him his breakfast, fresh apples from his orchard. I chatted with him and even bought some apples from him too.

Two years ago I made a pic featuring a anthro horse based on him, seen in Out by the Pool on FA. I had a little contest this morning on twitter seeing if people could find him. A few people thought he was Susan but nope, it wasn't him. (though I have to admit my pic of Susan does look more like him than the horse in the pool pic xD )


Now if only I could get closer to the wild ones down in Placitas... xD

Up and Away

This past week was the International Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque! 

The Balloon Fiesta is one of (if not the biggest) events for New Mexico. So many people come from all over the country and the world for this. You would think that just standing around watching hot air balloons taking off would be kind of...well, boring. xD But its not. It's memorizing! D: You just want to storm the nearest balloon and hop in the basket and take off! xD If you ever need to go on vacation in October come to Albuquerque! You don't want to miss this.

Aside from all the cool colors and shapes of the balloons, one of the coolest things I saw there were these two people using just chairs attached to their balloon. They're all like "SCREW BASKETS, WE'RE HARD CORE BALLOONISTS BITCHEZ." xD

The morning ascension is one of the major highlights of the fiesta. They do it each morning unless the weather isn't good (which it did turn ugly on Friday so they had to cancel it). In the evenings after sunset they will do a  balloon glow, in which they blow up their balloons but don't take off. They stay on the ground lighting them up. All my balloon glow pics are on my phone! xD I'll have to upload those later.

Hopefully I'll get to go again next year. I may even try to get a ride in one of the balloons too. :D (but only in one that has a basket xD)

Friday Sketches

Well, other than prancing about in a sombrero all day I did do some doodles. 

First off we have a sketch of Ramsay Pony, apparently not enjoying his meal. 

And who better than to beat Jamie up than Memphis! He'll do a good job I think. xD Man, trying to figure out his colors and patterns took forever to do. But they came out okay in the end I think. He's supposed to be an Egyptian Cobra so I wanted him to look kinda "pharaoh-ish" but I took some liberty with the patterns (they don't usually have stripes)

So BGN's parents went to Las Vegas for the weekend, leaving him all by himself...

...well. not really. 

He was left alone with this Sombrero! :D

So of course he's gonna try it on since no one is around.

Welcome to Nuevo Mexico.

I'm not sure where this came from but it's been sitting up on our microwave for a while. 

So why not put it to good use. :D

Trying to get back into the groove

Another post from me! And it hasn't been a month or more since the last! xD

So as you may know I recently moved back into my parents house. It's been about 2 weeks since the move and I feel like I still haven't recovered from it. It's strange because I feel really different, not the same. I don't want to say I'm depressed but I certainly do feel "low." 

Ever since I moved I've been completely drained of artistic energy. I just did not have the power or spark to do any work. I don't know why but trying to get something done just took forever to do. I sort of felt "worthless." I just didn't feel like myself. 

I think it came from a couple of things that happened since I moved back, i.e, a few family issues, no money (neg. balance), cold weather, and just yesterday I felt my first cavity in my teeth in like forever. I'm starting to think moving back was a bad idea. As much as I missed Espanola I really, really miss Albuquerque. I want to move back down there so much. 

We're halfway through the year and all I can say is I'm ready for it to be over. This year has been one of the worst in my life and I just want to start over fresh. 

Though I don't know why I have to wait for the year to end to start over. I should just do it right now...

ANYWAYS-

Enough of my emo-ness!

I may have been down in the dumps but I think I'm starting to come back. 

Moving on is a sketch featuring JPup and two brothers. Two brothers? Which two brothers? Why, its Chris and Martin Kratt---the Kratt Brothers!  :D

I have to thank them and their show "Wild Kratts." It really cheered me up a lot. This sketch is some fan art of the show, with Martin in his creature power suit, using some demon creature power. >x) 

The next sketch is a PONY sketch! :D (have to be feeling better if I'm drawing Ponies!)

 Here we have an anthro version of (an older) Pipsqueak. At first I really didn't care for him but recently he's been getting popular, and the more I see him the more I'm staring to like him. xD Not sure why but Discord is also there behind him. Also, Rumble (Thunderlane's lil'brother) makes an appearance next to Pip in the bottom left sketch.

And finally we have more Biggens-ness.

I got the idea today (while watching some preening flamingos on Wild Kratts xD) of doing a pic of Elijah being forced to preen his wings. I wasn't sure how to do it so I made a few different scenes. In the end I'm going to do the bottom left one, with Biggs holding Elly down and Jumeiras plucking away.

Out and In

So BGN moved back up to Espanola over the weekend. Moving is always a fun thing to do right? RIGHT? xD

Especially if the room you're moving into looked like this. I loved my old messy room but it was time to clean it up a bit, only because I needed to make sure all my stuff from Rio Rancho would fit in there.

And so here it is today. Slightly cleaner yet somehow packed wall to wall with even more crap. xD Oh well. 

At least I still get to wake up to exposed fiber glass in the ceiling. :D

And my old computer desk is a little cleaner too. Thats all for now! ; )
